My name is Sydney Frankhouser, I am 24 years old, and most like the rest of people my age...I had no idea what to do after college. I always had dreams of owning and running my own businesses, but it always seemed so out of reach. I have a full time job as a medical device distributor with a particular focus on spine. It’s absolutely amazing to be part of such a complex industry. I love that I am able to have both of my passions shown in both my career and my daily life.

I grew up in Jupiter, FL with my two older sisters and both of my wonderful parents. The family is growing and I now have a niece and nephew and a soon-to-be brother-in-law. My grandmother, who joined us in Florida about 3 years ago from PA, is the inspiration for the creation of "[My] Gypsy Child".

Like many “dream come true” stories, mine was completely unexpected and ended up being a perfect fit for my lifestyle. In January, I tested positive for COVID. My roommate and I were stuck in our apartment with nothing to do. That’s when I knew I had to start get something started.

I have always had a burning passion for fashion, but even more so, I love bringing any kind of mental design into reality. My birthday was coming up, so I had an idea to make myself a "crown" but one that emphasized my own personal style....gypsy, boho chic. I put together my first hat wrapped entirely with white quartz crystals; and after posting it on my personal Instagram, My Gypsy Child sprang to life. I started My Gypsy Child to not only express my own creativity but to capture the creativity of others.

My grandmother has always been my best friend, role model, even spirit animal. I could listen to her talk for hours about her early days...traveling the country in a beat-up RV with the love of her life. I always told myself I wanted to be just like her. Her free spirit mentality lives inside me, and for that, she has always referred to me as her "Gypsy Child". She is the best part of my business...honoring her and doing something that illustrates our way of life.

No two hats are the same, nor are they perfect, but I take pride in the time I spend on my designs for each hat and the care, effort, and time that go into each and every one. It is critical for me to study the style and uniqueness of each person in order to show off their personality within my designs.

I handcraft and design every hat you see. My customers have the option of custom designing a hat specifically for them with me or picking from any of the designs I have already come up with. Most orders go through my Instagram @my_gypsychild, email: mygypsychild3@gmail.com and soon my website www.mygypsychild.com.  I am overjoyed with the amount of support our community has given Gypsy Child. Gypsy Child Hats can be found locally at Lola Chiq Boutique and Oceans Allure in Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Harbor Boutique in Abacoa Town Center and Locomotive Coffee Shop in Tequesta.
